Legends Day 2025 -3: Premier Lounge Prizes & Presentations Prior To Kick-Off

CCFPA’s Special FP Programme for LD25

As promised yesterday as part of our photo-record of a wonderful Legends Day 2025 – the 18th in its particular series of annual Former Player reunions – here we present some more photos taken by CCFPA’s Richard Morris and our ‘official ‘snapper’ Andy Scaysbrook prior to the 12.30 pm kick-off in the important Championship game between the Sky Blues and Burnley. As everyone knowns know the result of the game a 2-1 defeat to the visitors took only a little shine off a wonderful LD25 when the bumper 28,000 crowd, especially our returning Former Players enjoyed renewing their membership of the Sky Blue family.

We have previously covered the arrival of the FPs and the Q&A sessions over brunch with many of them. Some of the returning ‘stars of the past’ (from across the CCFC playing generations) like Fanky Dabo, Peter Atherton and Ian Butterworth were making their Legends Day debuts and were shown what a fabulous reunion the Association and the club put on each year cementing the link between FPs, fans and current squad members all as part of the Sky Blue family, recognised by a piece in a recent Daily Mail (left) and Coventry Online (below).

All this wouldn’t have happened without the hard work behind the scenes of many people on the CCFC and Arena staff and of course all the CCFPA committee members and in particular husband and wife team Richard and Sarah Morris and the Associations’ very much of a ‘front-man’ Chairman Billy Bell. Billy has been doing the top job ever since founding chairman Jim Brown resigned the post after the last Legends Day and Billy has announced he too will be stepping down at the end of this season (though remaining with CCFPA).

Opportunity was taken during the pre-match brunch with ‘the Legends’ in the club’s Premier Lounge to pay tribute to Jim (who was there again helping the day go smoothly), Billy and Sarah and Association Life President Joe Elliott was effusive in their praise (as was club executive chairman and owner Doug King).

Billy’s presentation

A small presentation was made to both Sarah and Billy in tribute to their efforts and afterwards a raffle and auction of prizes and memorabilia took place to boost Association funds. The largest FPA in the country could not do all the good it does without the support (financial and otherwise) of the FPs, members, sponsors, advertisers, fans and supporters (to whom we send thanks)!

Some pics below from Richard and Andy show you a flavour of some part of these pre-match events:-

Finally, here are just a couple of the sought after auction prizes including a signed Sky Blue shirt and some Tatsu Sakamoto boots and a photo of popular recent Sky Blue Fanky Dabo who got a brilliant reception from all at the CBS Arena on his debut Legend Day wowing one of the supporters boxes wich he visited during the Day:-

Look out tomorrow for some more coverage of the fantastic LD25 last weekend including pictures of some of the veteran (and otherwise) Sky Blue players pitchside walking to the CBS Arena centre circle to the acclaim of the 28,000 crowd fro their traditional ‘team photo’ and post-match fun and games down in the Lady G’s supporters lounge in the G-Casino.
