Last Saturday we were naturally focussed on entertaining the whole group of 46 Former Players who had returned to Coventry for Legends Day 2025. It was a wonderful reunion packed full of memories, meet-ups, reminiscences, interviews and other events which we have been covering over the last few days on this sites postings. Look out tomorrow for photos and a video of the finale in Lady Gs when most of our ‘Legends’ gathered after the game with Burnley (a disappointing 2-1 Sky Blues defeat) for more chats and to sing the Sky Blue Song with the audience to end a wonderful day.

Hidden amongst the LD25 fun and games however was the ‘normal’ match-day duties of our ‘special guest’ for the day touring all the supporters lounges for a brief Q&A with FP turned CCFC club host Brian ‘Harry’ Roberts. Having turned up once more to meet his ex colleagues in the Sky Blue family at their annual reunion our wonderfully productive forward from 1976-80 Ian Wallace was persuaded to perform some additional duties as our ‘special’ for the day.

For a while before kick-off ‘Harry’ and ‘Wally’ left the larger group of FPs and fans dining in the Premier Lounge (where they had already done an hilarious Q&A with ‘Harry’ sporting an outrageous tartan wig -above) to meet more fans in the other lounges and Brian coaxed some interesting memories from our diminutive former forward in a number of Q&As in the main stand supporters’ areas. Also along for the ride was popular currently injured first-teamer, a ‘Cov.Kid’ to boot, Josh Eccles who also provided some interesting insights about the Sky Blues’ current Championship campaign and the match to come (right).

At half time, with the game stalemated at 1-1, the ‘Parade of the Legends’ to the CBS Arena centre circle took place and ‘Wally’ was proud to take his grandson pitch-side where both received a wonderful ovation (left). We posted a video of the Parade on this site yesterday.

Tomorrow we will provide coverage of the Former Players post match celebrations in Lady G’s Supporters Lounge located in (our sponsors) G-Casino under the Arena but to whet your whistle we leave you (right) with a picure of our ‘special’ ‘special guest’ for the day Ian Wallace taking the stage of Lady G’s for some craic with CCFPA chairman Billy Bell.
Thanks to all our returning FPs at LD25 and thanks in particular to ‘Wally’ for the additional duties he undertook. We are sure to see him back in Coventry with us again soon!
