Bob Eales (CCFPA Committee) who was representing the Association at the International Congress of the European Former Football Players Association (EFPA) in Liverpool last week rubbed shoulders with a number of personalities including Sir Geoff Hurst and Sir Bobby Charlton – and his report (with photographs) will follow in a few days time.
Bob also bumped into a couple of people who had (albeit fairly brief) past connections with CCFC and promptly signed them up as members. Scottish International Darren Jackson who played a trio of games as substitute for the Sky Blues when on loan from Celtic in 1998-99 had a long career north of the border with a number of clubs in Scotland. England International Peter Reid will be remembered as a controversial past manager of the Sky Blues who, after an illustrious career with Sunderland and Leeds United, took the reigns for the last match of the 2003-04 in preparation for City’s move to the Ricoh but left the club (which was in some disarray) the following Christmas ‘by mutual consent’.
We also are pleased to announce that Paul Hall and Craig Pead have joined the Association. Craig joined City as a schoolboy in 1997 and made his debut at the back end of the 2001-02 season. The midfielder totted up 45 appearances for the Sky Blues (many as a substitute) scoring 3 goals before moving on to Walsall (where he made a century of 1st team appearances) in the close season of 2005.
In close season 1998 experienced Jamaican International and wide player Paul Hall joined City from Portsmouth (where he had locked up over 200 appearances and scored over 40 goals in 5 seasons). However he made only 13 appearances (mostly as a sub) for the Sky Blues scoring once before also moving to Walsall in March 2000. Paul’s long subsequent career has subsequently involved a bit of travelling – he has appeared for Rushden & Diamonds, Tranmere Rovers, Chesterfield, Walsall (again) and Wrexham.
Welcome back Craig, Darren, Paul and Peter!!
